4 palettesLet's learn the terminology of color. You can think of each of these as levers that you pull to create different colors.
Hue is basically a fancy name for color... Sort of. Hue refers to the parent color, or rather the fully saturated color that doesn't have any white (tint) or black (shade) added to it.
A tint is created when you add white to a hue. When working in design tools, you can create a tint by lowering the saturation value of your hue.
A shade is created when you add black to a hue. You can create a shade by lowering the brightness value of your hue.
A tone is in between a tint and a shade. Basically you're adding grey, aka both white & black, to your hue.
Each color portrays a different feeling or emotion, and by understanding the psychology of color, you can choose colors that resonate with your audience.
Red is a very emotionally intense color that can raise metabolism and heart rate. It's attention-grabbing and often used in fast food branding.
Blue is a calming color that can slow metabolism. It's broadly appealing and favored by global companies like Facebook and Twitter.
Green is the color of nature. It's soothing and can promote healing, lower blood pressure, and suppress appetite.
Yellow is bright and energizing, evoking happiness and positivity. It grabs attention but can trigger anxiety if overused.
